Djevelsort Releases First Single “Our Last Embrace”

Djevelsort blends atmospheric black metal with dark symphonic and progressive elements. The project is led by songwriter Tom Hagen, a drummer with more than two decades of experience who stepped away from the drum kit in 2019 to pursue a more personal vision on guitar, inspired by the legacy of 1990s Scandinavian black metal.

“Our Last Embrace” showcases the project’s sonic identity through atmospheric riffs, orchestral textures, and strong melodic lines that create an immersive and expansive soundscape. The track also features fretless bass by Rich Gray (Annihilator), whose fluid playing adds a distinctive progressive layer to the music.
The debut album Peril of Freedom consists of seven tracks written and recorded between June 2024 and January 2025. Drawing inspiration from bands such as Dimmu Borgir, Emperor, and early Ulver, the album balances epic soundscapes with a darker, introspective atmosphere.
With its focus on mood, musical depth, and Nordic aesthetics, Djevelsort introduces itself as a promising new presence within modern Norwegian black metal — beginning with the release of “Our Last Embrace” today and culminating in the full album Peril of Freedom on May 22.
