The Rock & Roll Circus began in late 2021, when Luna Marble were still an emerging band with a growing catalogue of songs but few opportunities to showcase them. Like many new artists, we struggled to find promoters willing to take a chance on a new band, so we decided to create our own platform.
The first edition took place at Gullivers just six months after the band formed, with an hour-long set of the first songs we had written together. It was during this time that the band’s now-recognisable starry aesthetic began to take shape — they spent two weeks hand-crafting star garlands that would become the foundation of the Luna Marble visual identity.
By the third edition at Night & Day, the concept had fully evolved into something bigger: an extended band lineup, special guests, surprise covers, glitter, confetti, set props, and a theatrical atmosphere that blurred the line between gig and spectacle.
Each year, The Rock & Roll Circus has become a milestone moment for the band — a chance to showcase new material, reflect on how the band has grown, and experiment with new ideas and visuals. With every edition, the show has grown larger, more ambitious, and more immersive.
The fifth anniversary of the series also marked the release of our highly anticipated self-titled debut album, three years in the making. To celebrate the occasion, Luna Marble performed a special show ahead of the album’s release and recorded and filmed the entire set, capturing the special atmosphere of of the night.
Live performance sits at the heart of everything the band does do. They write, develop, and perfect our songs on stage, and that energy feeds directly into our recordings. Releasing a live album felt like the most honest way to capture what Luna Marble is about — raw, honest, and full of the atmosphere that defines their shows.
This live album serves as a companion to the songs featured on the debut record, alongside a live cover of Woodstock and an acoustic rendition of the very first song Dragos and Maria wrote together — long before Luna Marble was even born. There is also a live film available to go with the live album.
