Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:
Hello, we are Lake Mar/E… a lowd band from Logan, Utah, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Florence, Alabama.
We’ve recently released “Reanimatrix” on all streaming platforms… we are expecting to drop it on our LP to be released in 2026, but the song is out now.
What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?
Oh, like a kid in a candy shop, there are so many decisions to be made… it’s really great really, we do so much from making music, playing shows, creating content. It seems like the world is right in the palm of our hands, so maybe we are bringing our audience into our candy shop.
When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?
The first time I heard Stephen play his guitar, loudly, I knew… I simply knew. Then, when all 4 of us got in the room for the first time, it was magic, very exciting. Still is to this day, when the 4 of us play together it is other worldly, something we adore sharing with others.
Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?
Our hope is that from a 4 piece rock/metal band, you are going to hear something new, unique, unusual amongst the familiar. We really put everything we have into this song “Reanimatrix”, not just effort, playing, and production, but creatively with the instrumentation, the lyrics meanings. Some songs are simple, this one comes across a little more deep.
How does a song typically come together for you?
Typically Eric(vox) has a story, a life’s experience which he crafts into lyrics… Stephen(guitar) has a melodic or rhythmic idea that get churned through what we call the Lake Mar/E process. It’s really a cool path to go down.
How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?
Lowd.
I love the concept that we, the members of Lake Mar/E as musicians/song writers and everyone in our audience as listeners have these familiarity sounds from all the music we’ve ever listened to… or better yet, the organic sounds of the day to day whether it be in nature, or in our urban environments, and we create and listen to sounds in the music that are inspiring or reminiscent of experiences, good, bad, happy, sad, easy, grueling.
What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?
Hopefully there is something relatable, inspiring to one’s life. If nothing else, maybe we create a time and space for a little escape, something a little unusual.
Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?
Europe, Asia, South America, Australia, I’ve never been, I’d like to go to these places I’ve only read about. Also, I think the people of Europe and beyond are going to love us.
How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?
It’s definitely gone down experimental paths… we always have a good time trying to put our band in a genre, or sub-genre and to our great pleasure, it’s not an easy thing to do. Our genre is “lowd” ha ha.
How excited are you for 2026, and what can fans expect from you?
We are so psyched… as this thing grows we are getting greenlit for new stages/venues. Watch for our next set of dates next month, December 2025, in Nashville, Memphis, and Muscle Shoals.
Also, hopefully next year we drop our debut full length LP.
