VIDNET – to release debut album ATTENTAT

November 14th marks the release of Vidnet’s debut album ATTENTAT.

The new Copenhagen based two piece plays a visceral and ungodly mixture of grindcore, sludge, death metal and hardcore punk.

Vidnet is Danish for ‘witness’. Their music is situated in a universe inspired by literature and arts
from the turn of the century period – expressionism, new romanticism/gothic, decadence, and early
modernism.

Though the period had great new waves in arts and scientific breakthroughs, it was also a time that
– like ours – was marked by conflict and totalitarianism. Many lives were also sacrificed in the
name of the very same progress or another (even worse) “higher good”.

Accordingly, the band name “Vidnet” (witness) plays on the original meaning of ‘martyr.’
Furthermore the band name is a critique of a perception of the artist. The artist is often perceived as
this outsider-witness that uses their artistic vision to mediate truth. This perception is challenged in
Vidnet’s debut album ATTENTAT (eng: assassination attempt).
The songs are constructed as rooms and stages that the narrator goes through and plays
ambiguously and interchangeably with shifting roles as voyeur, victim and perpetrator.
