JON ANDERSON AND THE BAND GEEKS – Live – Perpetual Change

JON ANDERSON AND THE BAND GEEKS – Live – Perpetual Change

RELEASE YEAR: 2025
BAND URL: https://www.jonanderson.com/

None other than the legendary and inimitable Jon Anderson assembled a group a few years ago endearingly named the Band Geeks and recorded something akin to a Yes fan’s wet dream in the shape of this superb-sounding live album. A collection of epics and classics by Yes sure sounds good, does it not?

First of all, the packaging is beautiful, and the artwork is undoubtedly something to be cherished and admired. As to the actual performance, the setlist, the organic nature and warmth of the whole presentation, and the indisputable fact that Anderson’s voice is absolutely magnificent and as brilliant as ever, this release leaves nothing to be desired, and Live – Perpetual Change is simply a unique compilation of timeless songs that speaks to the head, heart, and soul. Dynamics is the keyword throughout, and every aspect of the endeavor oozes confidence and class. In terms of atmosphere, there is a joyous and uplifting feel to the offering, and the band members are clearly reveling in and enjoying the very idea of airing some of the best and most memorable prog compositions known to man and putting their own stamp on them.

Virtuoso playing coupled with genuine passion and deep-seated emotions is a rare and precious thing indeed, which is exactly why you need this stunning 2 CD/DVD set in your life (or you could opt for the triple vinyl edition if that is your preferred brand of vodka). The DVD is only a moderately entertaining thing to watch, which renders it slightly superfluous, and you only really need the audio discs. Did I mention that the album contains one of the best renditions of “Awaken” that I have ever heard?
