NATALIE LUCIA – releases debut single

Cape Town-born musician and artist, Natalie Lucia, is set to make her solo debut with the release of her heartfelt single, I Am Fine. Having made a name for herself in the South African underground music scene in numerous bands, most recently as the voice of alternative metal outfit Heartmachine, and through various collaborations over the years, Natalie is now stepping into the spotlight with her own deeply personal sound.
A raw and sincere take on alternative acoustic music, I Am Fine serves as both a poignant reflection and a therapeutic release for Natalie. “The inspiration for ‘I Am Fine’ was more of a therapeutic release, for emotions or situations that I was dealing with at the time,” says Natalie. The song dives into the complexities of emotional awareness, offering listeners an intimate look at recognizing which emotions belong to them and which are influenced by others.
The track came to life in a moment of creative clarity. Unlike her usual writing process, which involves collecting lyrical fragments in notebooks, I Am Fine flowed out effortlessly in a single sitting. “It needed to come out, all those words needed to be said,” Natalie explains. This immediacy and authenticity shine through in every note and lyric, making the song a deeply moving experience for listeners.

The recording process added another layer of magic to the track. Partnering with Ruan Vos at Sonic Nursery, Natalie recorded the track on the rare and symbolic leap year day of February 29, 2024. “From the moment we started working on this song, I knew I had placed my song in the right hands. It was a very easy and organic process,” she reflects.
