SÂVER – new single out
OSLO’S SLUDGE-METAL VETERANS SÂVER RETURN WITH PRIMAL ONE
PUNISHING NEW SINGLE TAKEN FROM FORTHCOMING ALBUM, FROM EMBER AND RUST
Oslo-based sludge-metal power trio SÂVER are back with a vengeance. ‘Primal One’ is the lead single from the forthcoming album ‘From Ember And Rust’, out 11th November via Berlin’s Pelagic Records.
As the band’s first non-collaborative release since 2019’s debut album ‘They Came With Sunlight’, ‘Primal One’ serves as a furious new statement of intent, incorporating lessons learned and experience gained into SÂVER’s formidable synth-driven, sludge-metal sound.
Restless by nature, 2021’s full-length release ‘Emerald’ saw SÂVER pair their calculated minimalism with the frenetic, percussive energy of Belgian post-metal collective Psychonaut whilst last year’s ‘Split EP’ saw SÂVER and Norwegian folk singer/songwriter Frødekal reinterpret a song from each other’s back catalogue with hauntingly spectacular results.
With this revelatory experience still ringing in their ears, ‘Primal One’ bears all of SÂVER’s heavy hallmarks alongside a newfound sense of dynamic anticipation and organic progression which transcends the single and ties the seven tracks of ‘From Ember And Rust’ together as a milestone in the band’s ascendant trajectory.
As well as sharing their years of experience making the heaviest music they can, SÂVER also share a passion for the unmistakable soundscapes of classic science-fiction. Already a key component of SÂVER’s distinctive sound; Rokseth’s otherworldly, cinematic synth work appropriately pervades the crushing breakdowns and simmering suspense of ‘Primal One’ as the band boldly take their first steps into a strange new world.
‘Primal One’ is out now.
‘From Ember And Rust’ is out on November 11th.
Sâver on ‘Primal One’:
“‘Primal One’ was a natural first single as it truly represents both where we come from sound wise, but also the direction we’re heading with this album – from the heavy and brutal on one end, to the more delicate and fragile on the other. This contrast has always been present in our sound, but we feel the bridge between the two is now more refined.
Lyrically ‘Primal One’ revolves around gathering the will to dig deep and facing your demons – to really look at yourself and try to overcome the punches life inevitably throws at you. It definitely reflects each of our own lives of late and points to the global shitstorm we’ve all been dealing with for the last few years. Anyway, who wants to talk about that anymore? Onwards.”
