T3NORS – Naked Soul

T3NORS – Naked Soul

Featuring the three incredibly skilled vocalists Kent Hilli, Toby Hitchcock, and Robbie LaBlanc, T3nors is a melodic rock/AOR project by Frontiers Records that has been in the works for a few years. There is no shortage of quality musicianship here, and the slick and glossy production suits the song material quite nicely, but the compositions lack both substance and the ability to enthrall the listener. Frontiers’ in-house multi-instrumentalist/songwriter/producer Alessandro Del Vecchio is undoubtedly a gifted dude, but the songwriting is simply not up to scratch here, and a substantial part of the LP is mundane and unexciting stuff that feels way too safe and predictable. The best tunes to these ears are undoubtedly ‘I Could’, ‘Set Fire to the Rain’, and ‘Stand for Love‘ as they offer solid riffs, good hooks, and juicy choruses, but the rest of the disc is frankly rather forgettable, which is damn frustrating.

Hilli, Hitchcock, and LaBlanc are fabulous singers who deliver passionate vocal melodies but even they cannot save Naked Soul from being an unremarkable and uninspired release. If you are a die-hard fan of AOR then you might want to give this one a spin, but there are much better alternatives out there.
