CREYE – III Weightless

There was a lot to admire and cherish about the previous output by these melodic rockers from Sweden, and it is most satisfying to discover that this latest effort of theirs delivers too and leaves very little to be desired in terms of quality songwriting.

A loud, crisp, and bright production envelops these potent and atmospheric compositions – the majority of which display finesse, accomplishment, and depth – and the album is one cohesive and diverse beast. These six talented musicians serve up pulsating rockers and heart-rendering ballads that are pure liquid gold and absolutely guaranteed to please fans of the outfit and also attract new listeners. Contrary to many of their label-mates, Creye is not merely some studio project but instead a proper band in the true sense of the word, which is evident when experiencing the interplay between the musicians involved and the energy that is on display throughout. The disc loses a tiny bit of steam towards the end with ‘Dangerous’ and ‘Pieces’ paling ever so slightly in comparison to the other songs, but overall, this slick and powerful record is utterly cool and excellent. Lovers of melodic hard rock need this one – it is as simple as that, really.
