PRESSURE – interview
Interview with the Swedish act PRESSURE, a band that describes themselves as a “story telling metal band”, meaning their melodic heavy metal style is meant to tell you stories and aims at bringing you an interesting new way of experiencing music.
Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:
Hey, we are Pressure. A story metal band from Sweden that tries to combine modern storytelling with music and effects to bring you a new and unique way of experiencing music.
Our latest release which drops February 24th is called “All the things”.
“All The Things” was written to reflect on the uncompromising urge that passion and yearning can inflict. When you meet someone and your mind tells you one thing, your heart also wants you to slow down but your body needs something else. Forbidden? Bad? no, just the urge that makes you do all those things, both good and bad, that bring life and meaning and passion to your life, because what would life be without some danger, a little naughty, a little dirty and some good experiences? “All The Things” will help you take a leap into some new and exciting experiences. Let’s live life on the dangerous side a bit!
What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?
I would say the noise of all the releases. Its hard to compete with those who can afford more money or has a big label/management that helps you to bear the costs. We do as much as we can but its tough to be able to fund the band and grow and also live your life when you are a full time musician.
When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?
I have been playing guitars for all my life. I started very early, I think I was around 6 years old. And my music has followed me through my life. I can say that all my bands has been very serious for me even the bands I had as a kid. This project, Pressure, is my life legacy and what I want to leave behind for people to find about me when I die. Pressure was my legacy since the first time we played together back in 2018.
Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?
All the things is a great modern rock anthem that will have you dancing and singing along and at the same time it has a lot of attitude that will make you feel the real truth to the lyrics combined with the music. This song fits everywhere, from the crowded dancefloor to a romantic dinner. Because who doesn’t want to be a little good, a little bad, a little dirty and a little naughty and at the same time and just because you do all these things you get all what you ever wished for.
How does a song typically come together for you?
We usually write about things that are close to us or we have experienced ourselves. How can you tell stories about life if you didn’t dare to experience it yourself? The stories often comes first and then we choose the music that best will tell the song. When we have that we usually find something to build. When you have the story the music flows through you, you hear the final result inside and then you just go to the studio and let all the creative juices flow.
How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?
A story driven diverse hard rock/metal style with focus on vocals, guitars and a heavy beat. Catchy melodies and strong influences by heavier types of metal.
What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?
We want them to be inspired by our music. We want our music to help them handle the different pressures that are around us all the time. You cannot live your life without pressure and together we are able to handle the pressure. Our music shows you ways to be strong and also shows you that you are never alone.
We also want people that comes to our shows not only come there for the music but also for the experience of Story Metal.
Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?
I would like to go to Africa and do some really cool shows there. Outside, rocking the savanna while there is wild animals running around. That would be powerful.
How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the years?
We try new things all the time. We never want to quit developing new ways and exploring new genres. This is the way Pressure is and we will continue to do so.
How excited are you for 2023, and what can fans expect from you?
We are very excited for 2023. We will release many cool new songs. And there are some more secrets that I cannot tell but sure will make an impact !
