EVULSE – Pustulant Spawn
Yes, this is just what the good doctor ordered, namely a short, concise slab of raw and filthy death metal spawned in the deepest pit of hell (or in this case Oakland as that is where Evulse hail from). I was quite fond of their previous demo/EP, the ear-splitting "Call of the Void", and this latest 4-track demo/EP of theirs suitably titled "Pustulant Spawn" is just as good if not better.
Pitch black riffs, unholy vocals, gloomy passages, and truly oppressive vibes are what lie in store for you. Simply put, this is utterly memorable stuff that never fails to impress me and its gory atmosphere and dark sound are appealing as fuck. "Pustulant Spawn" is a potent and vicious assault on the senses and a thoroughly entertaining listen with an evil aura to it and really solid, well-crafted tunes. It also possesses dynamics and some interesting nuances.
A convincing output and a must-have for fans of Autopsy. Quality music here, people, so make a note of this one if old-school death metal is your thing.
