Quoting the band, on this new video

"There’s so many great players and playthrough’s out there, so we wanted to try doing something different. The song is inspired by a famous occultist’s part in an expedition to one of the highest mountains in the world, so the video and the visuals in it have taken inspiration from this story, too.
The guitar I’m using is a Gibson Les Paul Standard from around 2005, I think. Bought it used as my first, proper instrument when I was starting out, and have been using it ever since. It came with these Seymour Duncan’s that I don’t think was in there originally. They are pretty hot in terms of output. Strings are 10 to 52’s, tuned to D standard."

Native Australian singer, guitarist and songwriter Ed Fraser relocated to Berlin from Australia in 2013, founding the Berlin-based post punk band Heads. with two native Germans in early 2014. Heads. released two critically acclaimed LPs – S/T (2015) and Collider (2018) – with label releases in Europe, Australia and the USA, extensively touring Europe and North America with bands the likes of Metz (Canada), Protomartyr (USA), Nothing (USA) and many more. Ed has now expanded his musical repertoire with his debut solo EP ‘Ghost Gums’, out via This Charming Man Records in 2019. Recorded over one week in Berlin with a dynamic band including Spike Rogers on drums and Rosa Mercedes on bass, plus guest musicians including Paul Seidel and Peter Voigtmann of seminal German band The Ocean, on Ghost Gums Ed explores a more personal side. Here Ed’s deep vocal expresses somber and direct lyricism amongst fluid, vibrant and at times more experimental instrumentation and vocal layers. From beginning to end Ghost Gums explores themes of loss and romance, and is an exploration of new and uncharted territory for Ed as a songwriter. With ghostly artwork designed by Australian artist Luke Fraser (Amyl & The Sniffers, John Frusciante), and mixed and mastered in Stockholm by Magnus Lindberg (Cult Of Luna, Heads.), Ed and his band are excited to deliver Ghost Gums to audiences in Europe and beyond.

"Ghost Gums sees Fraser taking a step into the more somber and direct lyricism compared to his work with Heads. While the lyrics are still as palpable as the ones he writes for his main band, there is much more emotion and depth to the ones found on the new single. The song is brooding, with constant highs and lows brought on by the instrumentals and Fraser’s vocal work. The discordant guitar tones set up an uneasy feeling, yet dn’t make you feel uncomfortable. “Swallow” really is an amazing introduction to what this album could bring us."
