GRIFT – Vilsna Andars Boning

GRIFT – Vilsna Andars Boning

  • Rating: 5 / 6

This two-track EP by the magical and mysterious Swedish entity known as Grift is an evocative and highly atmospheric release that is as moving as it is haunting. Gärdefors’ strong, booming voice reeks of passion while the acoustic guitars both vibrate and resonate with depth and meaning.

There is an emotional intensity to this one that is simply impossible to shake once you fallen under its spell. “Vilsna Andars Boning” perfectly encapsulates the melancholy of Grift while simultaneously adding a new aspects and layers to the overall discography of the aforementioned outfit. Simply put, this is dark folk at its finest and the sparse and somewhat minimalist song arrangements work like a charm.

The feelings of desolation, longing, and loneliness portrayed by the two compositions that constitute this EP, namely "Bortom berget" and "Dårarnas massiv", are so prevalent that one can almost reach out and touch them. You need this one for either your long walks in the mountains and woods or simply for whenever you feel introspective and moody.
