SIX FEET UNDER – Torment

The 12^th studio album from death/groove metal band Six Feet Under, "Torment" features a new guitarist in Ray Suhy – as well as twelve new tracks that run the gamut from mid-paced affairs to occasional faster numbers featuring some blast beats. The problem for full enjoyment again resides in the rhythmic barking underworld growls of vocalist Chris Barnes – rendering the musical hooks of competent material like "Knife Through the Skull" and "Obsidian" non-existent. Tough to tackle in one sitting, "Torment" probably appeases the long-timers but won’t move many recent metal heads to the fold.
