VEHEMENCE – Forward Without Motion

After a break up in 2005 and a couple of false starts to resurrect themselves, Vehemence is back on track with their first full-length in 11 years, the appropriately named "Forward Without Motion". For album four, it’s more of the brutally vicious melodic death metal that put the Arizona quintet on the map through their Metal Blade years.
Straddling the lines of their American heritage while also encompassing the sweet spot melodic refrains that made At the Gates and Dark Tranquillity mainstays, "Imagining the Loss" and "It’s All My Fault" are two blistering numbers that melt away time and space. Axe mastery from Kyle Moeller and Bjorn Dannov helps the 8:24 "Murdered by the Earth" prevail, twin trilling and epic passages carrying the weight of the arrangement.
Welcome back gentlemen – let’s hope the next record doesn’t take a decade to surface.
