EGONAUT – Deluminati
Swedish stoner metal with psychedelic inflections – welcome to the quartet Egonaut and their third full-length "Deluminati". Not as sludgy as one would expect, the guitar tone cuts through the aural landscape in a solid, throwback manner – while Fredrik Jordanius has a booming, melodic flair to his vocal delivery that Mustasch and The Cult followers should enjoy. Stacking riffs in a fundamental sequence to maximize head banging/ foot tapping possibilities, the organ work of Dennis Zielinski adds that Doors/ Uriah Heep vibe to make "From the Coals" and the darker "Iustitia Infernalis" immediate winners.
Differentiating the leaders from the followers can be a tough proposition in a hot genre – Egonaut embody the former qualities, making "Deluminati" a delightful, timeless recording. Seems like this writer needs to seek out some back catalog offerings to fill in the holes for my collection.
