INQUISITION – Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm (re-release)
Up next is the re-release of the fifth album from Colombian kings of Black Metal Inquisition. There is no difference to track-listing or mastering and no bonus tracks but the cover has (once again for this series of reissues) received a welcome upgrade.
Those who know Inquisition already will know what to expect here – no surprises and not much departure from the standard formula, but Inquisition are so good at what they do that this is not a problem.
For those new to the band, expect a cold BM with incredible hell-croak vocals and a ritualistic groove that manages to carry a deep vein of melody that in no way compromises the harsh BM aesthetic.
The more I hear this band the more I like them. ‘Ominous Doctrines of the Perpetual Mystical Macrocosm’ is another classic from a band whose strangely low profile belies their true status as essential contributors to the BM genre.
