FACESHIFT – All Crumbles Down
The second album "All Crumbles Down" is a modern heavy metal record that occasionally veers into doomy territory. Faceshift hail from Sweden and perform in an American-ized way: down tuned guitars, power grooves galore, and melodic vocals more in line with modern rock radio than anything super heavy. Everything from Alice in Chains and Nevermore to Disturbed came up when I took in these 11 songs- and not in a good way. From "Betrayed" to the slithering "Awaken" and all points circling around, "All Crumbles Down" has a ‘been there, done that’ texture that doesn’t elevate or connect on any visceral/ emotional level.
Sad considering they’ve been together for a decade. Probably handled best by the casual AIC meets Nevermore fan, as the deeper ones will toss this in the garbage.
