DAWN HEIST – Catalyst

Electronic groove metal with D-jent elements, this is a unique breeding ground for Australia’s Dawn Heist on their debut album "Catalyst". Lee and Ellis lay down the herky/jerky guitar riffs that bassist Zee and drummer Allan dance admirably into and around, not going overboard on the wildest time signatures imaginable. The keyboard/ electronic parts offer a spacey calm to the proceedings, while vocalist Pat alternates between maniacal screamer and melodic master, in an alternative extreme meets Burton C. Bell montage.
This is a 9 song album that whirs by in just over half an hour, and has more appeal for those listeners who like Periphery, Mnemic, and left of center groove metal acts. Worth exploring and worth intense listening sessions, "Catalyst" should keep the modern metal momentum on high.
