PUTERAEON – Cult Cthulhu

The Swedish dirty death train rolls on with Puteraeon. Following up “The Esoteric Order” the four piece revel in the Sunlight Studios-ish rough and tumble soundscape, with guitarist Jonas Lindblood throwing down some guttural lacerations vocally and teaming up with fellow axe man Rune Foss to slay crowds with low-tuned riff insanity. The bass tone from Daniel Vandija on songs such as “The Great Epidemic Of 1846” and Edge Of Sanity meets punkish “Flesh Archetict” levels all non-believers, and drummer Anders Malmstrom maintains his percussion seat with one-two grooves and doomier double bass leanings.

11 songs in 45 minutes that surely won’t change the mystique of the Swedish death metal movement- Puteraeon remain content on delivering rough, simplistic music that reminds the old guard of what made the style so intense back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. I say keep it coming!
