WORRALL – Worrall (re-issue)

Another Canadian AOR band with their self-titled debut originally released in 1991- when most melodic rock plummeted from the charts as alternative and grunge rock swept through North America. The brainchild of vocalist/keyboardist Rick Worrall and his guitarist brother Steve, the six piece band had background vocal help from Jimi Jamison and recorded this 11 song effort in Memphis, TN in a studio co-owned by Joe Walsh.

“Heat Of The Night” was a mid-tempo top 30 hit, but I don’t see much that’s very exciting on this record. Familiar riffs very much in the second rate Alias or Little River Band category, unexciting vocals and the rhythm section just sounds uninspired. I know the journalists of Kerrang and Metal Hammer gave this great reviews back in the day- to me though there were much better unheralded acts.
