VARGTON PROJEKT – ProgXperiMetal
Guitarist Mats Hedberg, drummer Morgan Agren and vocalist Bjorn Jansson form the basis of the Vargton Projekt. Eclectic progressive metal with King Crimson and Frank Zappa-like influences means these 18 ‘songs’ (a loose term when you hear the forward thinking jam sessions going on here) are meant for head trips and outer world insanity. “Uggarderojr” features Bjorn’s bluesy progressive timber while the drumming, bass and guitar all appear to be forming their own computer code communication patterns.
Four years of six recording sessions gives the listener plenty of eye dazzling, ear invigorating details to delve into. There are Middle Eastern tribal moves within “I – The Gathering” while the guitars chop away in understated Meshuggah fashion. 75 minutes later you will be a different person than when you first heard Vargton Projekt. Not for the weak, weary or impatient. Musicians will raise a hefty pint or two to this twisted piece of progressive chaos.
