This five piece leave nothing on the table with their debut album “Sutra”. Denmark’s Scarred By Beauty intertwine melodic death metal, hardcore breakdowns, twisted Meshuggah-like riffs and vocals that come from a noise rock/ metal core framework. Songs like “We Swim”, the pulsating guitar echo enhanced “Embers” and punishing “Top Of The Morning” tingle the nerve endings while certainly assuring limb movement (or damage if you prefer) in any live arena.
Normally not my favored sub-genre, yet when done as seamlessly as Scarred By Beauty does this, it’s awfully hard to resist. Rivals the best American bands playing this style while also throwing in a solid European flair.
