KRASHKARMA – Straight To The Blood

Alternative metal here from Krashkarma. A four piece with two vocalists (guitarist Ralf Dietel and drummer Niki Skistimas giving us a male/female duality to the process), these 11 songs have a lot in common with dance, hip hop and industrial metal- almost as if Strapping Young Lad and Nine Inch Nails went headlong into some club beats and distorted riffs. Niki’s playful voice makes “Take The Money” a possible breakout, her Gwen Stefani-like ska punk melodies contrast against the mechanical, basic electronic drum beats and disjointed guitar parts.
Different, left field and yet to these ears not quite at a level where the masses will consider this special – “Straight To The Blood” focuses too much on predictable grooves that nu-metal begat years ago.
