HALO OF GUNFIRE – Conjuring The Damned

HALO OF GUNFIRE – Conjuring The Damned

If you check out Halo Of Gunfire at Encyclopaedia Metallum, the band are described as metalcore. Every single genre that ends with -core is on my personal hate list, so my enthusiasm was not exactly over the top before playing the debut album from these young Americans.

Much of the reason I don’t like this kind of music is the vocals, which very often is extremely annoying. Screaming, sometimes combined with pathetic clean boy band vocals is just a certain receipt for headache. Add recirculated riffs and you know what I’m talking about. And so for some good news: Halo Of Gunfire are no metalcore band. These guys play American style brutal death metal 100 % of the album, and they do so in a convincing way.The metalcore thing comes from the last 3 songs, which are taken from their demo from 2008,and these songs are only added as a bonus.( bonus? Not in my book….).

Don’t know why they changed path and wandered away from the evil metalcore genre, but just be happy they did. US death metal is what you get, and that is really all you need to know.Brutal, technical, and vocals from hell, all very well done. Add Cannibal Corpse style lyrics and there you are. The sound is also worth mentioning, crystal clear and just damn good.In other words, well worth checking out.
