NEMBIENCE – Through Times of Despair

NEMBIENCE – Through Times of Despair

Now, that’s what I’m talking about! This is Gothenburg played right. Plenty of melody, great ideas. Sure, heard it all, but when it sounds this good and creative, who cares? Songwriting and musicianship is superb and can easily rival the best Dark Tranquillity or In Flames has to offer. Reminiscent a little of The Agony Scene (vocals) and the so called Christian metalcore scene, this is more of a melodic death record, superior in quality, variety, pacing, production and execution.

Nembience is simply one of those bands that remind me why I love and listen to metal music. Not perfect but damn close. Uses some clean vocals, but sparingly and they’re serviceable. Still, could use a little more variety in the growls, as the intelligible rasp gets kind of old after a while. But I don’t think it should cost them a whole point so let it be 5.5/6. More bands like this, please.
