Dead Daisies cover.jpgBoasting one of the most impressive line-ups in rock 'n' roll consisting of Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy, Ted Nugent), Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Revolution Saints, DIO), John Corabi (Motley Crue), Deen Castronovo (Journey, Revolution Saints), and founder David Lowy, it is no wonder that the Dead Daisies have become such a renowned and highly respected act in today's scene and that both their live shows and albums have become events in and of themselves. Simply put, these classic rock veterans deserve all the credit in the world for delivering brilliant albums, kick-ass live performances, and writing songs with balls the size of Texas.

Their latest effort, the raging beast of a monster that is "Burn It Down", is no different. It contains everything that one could possibly desire in terms of loud and passionate rock music. We are talking unfiltered rock ‘n’ roll with an overload of effective hooks and energy to it. As entertaining and riveting as its predecessors are, "Burn It Down" is undoubtedly the most coherent and solid collection of Daisies tunes so far. It rarely if ever loses momentum and the interplay between the band members have never been better or more impressive. The production is full of life and highly dynamic, which adds an organic and lively feel to the songs, while the musicianship is stellar all around. Singling out favorite cuts or standout tracks seems kind of redundant here as they all more or less rule, but those that well and truly take off and fucking explode in your face include “Resurrected”, “Judgment Day”, “What Goes Around”, “Set Me Free”, “Dead and Gone”, and the title track. The closing track on the CD digipak version is a wicked cover rendition of The Beatles' immortal "Revolution", which is worth the price of said format of the album alone.

There are two things that you need to do this year. The first one is pretty obvious; you need to invest your time in this album as fast as humanly possible. The second thing is that you simply owe it to yourself to check The Dead Daisies out in a live setting somewhere. They just tore up Oslo, Norway, and left us all floored, so do yourself a favor and keep an eye out for any upcoming shows of theirs near you.
