L.O.C. – interview

Introduce your band, and describe your latest release:

We are groove metal beasts, L.O.C. Hailing from the depths of the East Yorkshire countryside, we trade in riff laden, groove filled heavy metal. Our latest release “Dragging Me Down” is a raging metal torrent that sights the emotional turmoil caused by a deep rooted need for revenge. We chose to release the track as it is a firm favourite of our fan base and always gets a huge reaction live.

What’s the hardest part about being a band in this day and age?

I think the hardest part is staying ahead of the game. We live in a world now where the internet and social media is a huge part of our lives and we have access to endless content. This means that you can’t take your eye off the ball for even a second or someone else will take your place. You have to constantly deliver and keep people engaged which takes constant work.

When did you realise that your project had the potential to be much more than just a fun idea?

It was the day I sent the first demo recording to studio legend, Colin Richardson. Colin has worked with bands such as Slipknot, Trivium and Machine Head to name a only a few. When he told me he thought the track had potential and offered to produce and mix it for me I knew I was onto something. Someone of Colin’s status just wouldn’t work with someone who he didn’t believe had potential.

Tell us about your latest release, why should we check it out?

Well you’re going to hear it sooner or later, why be the last to hear your new favourite track?

How does a song typically come together for you?

It generally starts with a killer riff, we then just start playing and let the magic happen. Once we have a structure we take it into the studio and work on the finer details to make it the best track it can be. We have great chemistry so it just works. We throw all our ideas into the pot and see what happens.

How would you describe your sound to an unfamiliar reader?

No bullshit, straight to the point, heavy metal. Fast, raw and energetic.

What do you want listeners to take away from listening to your band?

I want our listeners to feel like they are a part of something special, an uprising so to speak. We plan to take our music to the masses and give the metal scene new life. We can only do this with the support of our listeners. We are creating our L.O.C army.

Where would you really like to tour that you haven’t done so yet, and why?

Europe and the USA. We are already have a growing fanbase in these areas and they are hugely supportive. The thought of taking our live show to them is very exciting.

How would you say that the sound of your band has progressed over the year?

As well as improving as musicians our sound has definitely become bigger, faster and heavier. We love playing live even if its just in the rehearsal room and I think the chemistry we have when playing together means that we just keep getting better.

How excited are you for 2027, and what can fans expect from you?

2027 will be a huge year for us. This year has been about doing the leg work and growing people awareness of the band but now we are growing at pace I feel we can really show the world what we have to offer. There will be new releases, killer shows and if you don’t know who L.O.C are now, you soon will!
