SCHWEIN – new album out in September

The Norwegian underground legend Schwein will release his new album “WAR” via Apollon Records / Gymnocal Industries 13. September 2024. The two digital “Darkness” and “Autocrats” have already been released, and “Naivety” will drop soon

Schwein is known for playing in bands such as Russian Amcar Club, Kaare & Partiet, Ym:stammen, Schweinhund and more, and as a sound technician on various recordings with Jokke & Valentinerne, Raga rockers, Dum Dum Boys and Satyricon. Live engineer for Khold, Cradle of Filth, Satyricon and Dimmu Borgir – and the list could go on.
At one point he even won a drum audition for the legendary Spinal Tap – No joke!

This new album is the sound of war regarded to the crazy situation with wars in Ukraine and Gaza, and autocrats worldwide. Several of the songs are based on so-called drones that can be found in Norwegian folk music – I.e. that there is a basic tone, as found in Norwegian folk music with the use of Harding fiddle and langeleik. If you listen carefully, you will hear the sound of Norwegian mountains, fjords and woods, especially in the songs Naivety, Metan and Darkness.

The album was performed, recorded, mixed and produced by Svein in his studio in the deep forests of Østerdalen, Norway during 2022/23.

Guest musicians include:
Christian Håpnes Svendsen (Cumshots, Gothminister) – Drums.
Bjørn Dugstad Rønnow (Borknagar , Cadaver) – Drums
Steinar Gundersen (Satyricon) – Backing guitar on A Schwein fur President.
Steel Undall (Black Lamen) – Solo on Autocrats

SCHWEIN has also just been confirmed for next year’s Inferno Festival, as one of the first band announcments for the internationally renowned festival. His live band will include none other than Steinar Gundersen (Satyricon) on guitar, Anders Hundstad (Satyricon) on keyboard, Stig Amundsen (Order/Gluecifer) on bass, and Christian Svendsen (Gothminister/The Cumshots) on drums.

“Schwein aka Svein Solberg is something of a legend on the Norwegian rock scene. He has played with numerous bands and has helped record several of the best acts in Norway. For 17 years he was also Satyricon’s soundman.”
Arvid Skancke-Knutsen in Espen Ixtlan book “Satyricon 2006-2022”
