POWERDONG – to release “The Divine Phallusy”

The Norwegian satiric metal band POWERDONG is where satire binds songs within a creative bubble. Their 2024 album, “The Divine Phallusy” uniquely blends jazz metal, avant-garde, and classic old-school metal, maintaining a tongue-in-cheek attitude. This eclectic approach showcases their commitment to humor and genre fusion, ensuring that satire remains the central, unifying element in the band’s music.

Album is set to be released August 31st and so far two singles have seen the light of day, “Go Big or Go Dong” and “Like an Subscribe”. You can watch them below.

Band History:

The birth of Panzerdong gave rise to a new era in music and spirituality. Followers of the Dong get together for great laughs and warmth, in a world of increased suffering and indifference. Sit down by the fire, thaw the frost from your bones and have a laugh to embalm your soul with the rich tones of Powerdong.

Powerdong was formed in 2020 by guitarist Christian Foldal and composer Ola Moum with the intent to create a power metal band that embraced the genre’s unintentionally satirical elements. This vision materialized in their debut EP, “Powerdong,” released in 2022, which featured progressive and symphonic metal tracks with satirical lyrics about internet memes and gaming culture.

Between 2022 and 2024, the band expanded with three new members: bassist Erlend Caspersen (current member of Abhorrent and Igorrr, former member of Deeds of Flesh Spawn of Possession, and Blood Red Throne), vocalist Dan-Elias (YouTuber at synth000, and singer of Assimilate), and guitarist and sound technician Geir Wetterhus (also fromAssimilate). With these additions, Powerdong began to move away from their symphonic metal roots, allowing satire to take center stage and hold the project together regardless of genre.

Their 2024 album, “The Divine Phallusy,” showcased this new direction by blending a variety of genres, including jazz metal, avant-garde, and classic old-school metal, further cementing their unique and eclectic approach to music, but still retaining their original “tounge-and-cheek” attitude.
