MONSTER TRUCK – True Rockers

MONSTER TRUCK – True Rockers

  • Rating: 5 / 6

This 11-track rollercoaster entitled "True Rockers" by the kick-ass ensemble known as Monster Truck is a glorious rock ‘n’ roll output with more spark and energy to it than one can possibly imagine. This wild and raging beast of a record hardly ever crawls to a standstill but instead keeps the listener engaged and hanging on to every single riff, vocals line, and drum beat – that is how addictive this high-octane shit is. The music ranges from dirty and bluesy to huge and anthemic, and the beautiful thing about it is that it sounds massive and powerful all the way through. On top of that, it is as diverse as it is memorable and all-out awesome.

As entertaining and hard-hitting as it is, it luckily also contains a couple of melancholy and haunting tunes ("Undone" and the utterly moving "The Howlin’") that are riddled with emotion and a sense of longing. In fact, the only two tracks that pale in comparison to all the rest are "In My Own World" and "Hurricane" – the rest are simply brilliant and the compelling qualities of "Evolution", "Devil Don’t Care", and the title track are undeniable. These guys have taken the best parts of Led Zeppelin, Free, Bad Company, ZZ Top, and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and spawned something unique that they can rightfully call their own. You need to check Monster Truck and this remarkable record of theirs out as soon as it hits the streets.
