In Aevum Agere is an Italian doom metal quartet who has released a few singles, EPs, and a full-length album previous to this brand new 5-track EP of theirs entitled "Fugit in Solitudine". Truth be told, I have never encountered these guys before or listened to any of their releases other than this new one, but I am pleasantly surprised without being totally blown away. The thing is, In Aevum Agere very much brings to mind bands such as Candlemass, Memento Mori, Black Sabbath, and the likes, but what they do they do pretty well. The riffs and melodies are catchy, the vocals fit the song material nicely, the production is suitably raw and yet punchy, and the arrangements are quite cool. Like I said, this is neither innovative nor original stuff, but all the songs are well-written and memorable while the lyrics appear to have some depth to them. "Fugit in Solitudine" is a moody and morose affair that ought to satisfy all you doom-loving freaks out there. And before I forget, this EP actually includes a cool Candlemass cover tune ("Somewhere in Nowhere"). Check it out!
