MORBID EVILS – In Hate with the Burning World

A year under their collective belts as a band, Finnish quartet Morbid Evils lay down a sick death-doom-drone-sludge sonic combination on their debut full-length "In Hate with the Burning World". Placing shorter arrangements like the under 5 minute "South of Hell" and a touch longer "Pollute" mid-sequence around the epic 7-10 minute cuts gives the record a needed tempo boost- relatively speaking of course in a genre where anything above a resting heart beat seems speedy. The vocals are deathly, the guitars gargantuan and the rhythm section hammers home the darkness as metal courses through their veins.
Bongripper, early Godflesh, and Winter are three acts that come to mind when digging deep into Morbid Evils. "Burning World" contains female narrative elements against Tero Nordlund’s fuzzy distorted bass plodding, creeping out of the woods while plotting its next subtle riff change or chord strike. Most people would look at 6 songs and think this is an EP – but in the doom-death-drone-sludge outlook, 44 minutes is more than appropriate to comfortable consume and digest "In Hate with the Burning World".
Given guitarist/vocalist Keijo Niinimaa’s commitments with the grindcore act Rotting Sound, we will have to wait and see how active Morbid Evils will be in the coming years. For now though, this is exceptional in terms of intensity and impact – so those that love doom will be delighted.
