NIHILRAGE – Eternal

NIHILRAGE – Eternal

This brutal Spanish horde offers malevolent and wildly aggressive death metal with a lot of wicked details and subtle nuances to it. To cut a long story short, "Eternal is a rumbling and energetic onslaught that is reminiscent of Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, and Obituary, and these guys keep it varied and interesting throughout.

A few prog- and black metal influences even sneak into the musical frame at regular intervals, but make no mistake; there are glorious breakdowns, crunchy riffs, and venomous vocals in spades here. The intro piece and four compositions that constitute the EP are uncompromisingly heavy and intense but with dynamics and several cool shifts and changes of pace constantly occurring, which entails that things never turn stale or boring.

"Eternal" is perfectly raw and full of promise and potential, and even though this might not strike one as being innovative, it sure as shit is entertaining and dangerously sinister. This is a grinding assault on the senses and their upcoming full-length assault ought to be a raging beast if this EP is anything to go by. Keep an ear and eye out for these talented dudes.
