RADIATION ROMEOS – Radiation Romeos

RADIATION ROMEOS – Radiation Romeos

Radiation Romeos is a brand new hard rock outfit formed by awesome vocalist Parramore McCarty (Warrior, Atomic Playboys). With Dag Heyne on guitars, Jogi Spittka on bass, and Gereon Homann on drums, what could possibly go wrong?

I must admit that I instantly fell in love with this charming and memorable album. It has so many qualities to it that it is simply impossible not to dig it wholeheartedly. The hooks and melodies are there, the riffs are wicked, and the vocals are passionate but with a bit of grit to them. More importantly, the songwriting is strong and the everything just kind of flows together naturally. It all sounds very organic, cohesive, and coherent. On top of that, it sounds as if these guys had fun while writing and recording the album.

Cuts such as the über-catchy and atmospheric "Mystic Mountain", the epic and otherworldly "Promised Land", the driven and intense title track, and the highly entertaining "Monstertraxx" absolutely slay. "Ocean Drive" brings to mind Journey while "Bad Bad Company" is just pure hard rock at its finest. The ones that do very little for me are the ballads, namely "Like an Arrow" and "Til the End of Time", but I do appreciate the fact that they add diversity to the whole affair.

In the overall perspective, this is a most welcome addition to the hard rock genre and a great record. The production is spot on and the musicianship is excellent. Highly recommended if bombastic and melodic rock with balls to it appeals to you.
