ANEWRAGE – Life-Related Symptoms

ANEWRAGE – Life-Related Symptoms

Alternative metal encompasses a wide birth of influences – so it’s intriguing to hear an Italian band like Anewrage deliver their take on things with "Life-Related Symptoms". The musicianship contains plenty of groove and djent-oriented themes, against post-grunge and alternative/modern rock riffing plus ear pleasing melodies. Most will pick out similarities to Linkin Park, Trapt, etc. – but once again the rhythm shifts and song construction makes "My Worst Friend" and jumpy "Evolution Circle" two certain body shaking efforts.

Guitarist Axel Capurro doubles on vocals, and has a gritty nature to his higher screams, while his clean delivery melds everything from modern rock to Richard Marx if you can believe it. Smartly placing moodier fare like "Outside" on the second half of the record keeps Anewrage dynamically viable and no one trick pony. "Life-Related Symptoms" at 13 tracks and 47 minutes showcases a talented band that knows how to be musically exciting in a format that for many has been stagnant for quite a while. One to watch for sure.
