RESISTANCE – The Seeds Within

RESISTANCE – The Seeds Within

Belgian deathcore… two words I never thought would go next to each other in my reviewing queue, but here we have album number five from the quintet in "The Seeds Within". The 10 songs fluctuate between intense riff swarms and speedy tempos while savage screams compete for air time such as "Cross the River" or "Diabolical Obsessions" and slightly more under control arrangements that will cause audiences to slam and swarm amongst themselves for "The Underworld" or the title cut. Aggression triggers energy, and Resistance adhere to a jackhammer pummeling philosophy – which can be tolerated in small doses, but does induce a couple of yawns towards the concluding tremolo heavy final cuts "The Gift to Inherit" and "Antithesis".

Non-obvious breakdown moments kept "The Seeds Within" out of the delete file, so I’d put this in the tolerable category when it comes to a genre flooded to the gills.
