The newest studio album from UK progressive rockers IQ is another stunner, proof that open spaces provide exciting moments. In 5 songs you’ll get cinematic landscapes, serene melodies, rhythmic build ups, swaying grooves in jazz and rock tempos – and occasional forays into exotic cultural territory to give the title track, 19 minute plus "Without Walls", and shorter but nature driven "Ocean" their own breath of life. Vocalist Peter Nicholls has a soft, light rock melody outlook that works brilliantly next to the playful keyboards, rich rhythms, and neo-progressive bounce.
A 33 year history, IQ and their fanatic following should be equally pleased for "The Road of Bones" – songs that deserve more attention beyond the progressive rock community.
