Wacken Rocks gets postponed – and turns out even better!

Dear friends,

due to the strong demand for tickets, the local authorities of Aurich have changed the legal requirements on short notice. As a result, both the festival ground and the camping area cannot be used as planned. For the reorganisation that has now become necessary, additional areas are needed – but are not available, since they are in agricultural use during May.

For this reason, the organisers are forced to postpone the Wacken Rocks Seaside in Aurich from May 21st to 23rd to August 28th to 30th.

As a result, Wacken Rocks South in Kreuth/Rieden has also to be postponed to August 27th to 29th, since all artists were booked to appear at both events.

We kindly ask for your understanding and will make up for it by getting additional high class acts and surprises on the bill. For starters, DORO has confirmed her participation!

Of course, all tickets remain valid!

More details and the running order will follow during the next few days and will be available on www.wacken.com and www.wackenrocks.com.

The Wacken family is growing: The legendary summer festival has three little brothers now – Wacken Rocks Seaside and Wacken Rocks South, along with Wacken Rocks Berlin.

How come, you ask? Your demand for the W:O:A experience has grown so much that the next edition of the mother festival in August has been sold out for months. But all those who weren't able to get a ticket (or simply want more), can now celebrate Open Air Rock'n'Roll more than once a year, and full-on Wacken style, too!

Wacken Rocks Seaside in Aurich and Wacken Rocks South in Rieden-Kreuth are two brand new festivals in the North and the South of Germany, where fans can already in May enjoy all the good  things that turned the W:O:A into the biggest and best Metal Open Air on the planet: great bands and a vibe you won't get anywhere else.

This is assured because both events are run by the very people that work on the big festival in the village of Wacken itself, who are throwing all their experience and know-how in the ring – something a new Open Air only can benefit from. That's why you're getting an amazing line-up, a cool location (whether it's Seaside or South!) and professional organisation that gets finetuned year after year.

Musically, Wacken Rocks offers traditional heavy stuff as known from the W:O:A, but also exciting new rock acts and hot newcomers. This only adds new flavours of hard music to the festival season, not to mention in regions the global Rock'n'Roll circus usually passes by. But everyone who is familiar with the success story that is W:O:A knows that even in areas lacking in infrastructure big things can happen…

Last, but not least: Wacken Rocks Berlin is the perfect way to get into the spirit of Wacken, while Wacken Rocks Seaside or South – after the postponement to the last weekend in August – will nicely round off the festival season…

Wacken Rocks South

Wacken Rocks South is taking place for the first time in 2009. The little bavarian town of Rieden-Kreuth, close to the city

of Amberg, was chosen as the location, where Gut Matheshof is situated, Europe's biggest Equitation Centre. The whole area is well-suited for events with large audiences.

Musically, Wacken Rocks South will have its own profile with styles ranging from traditional Heavy Metal and Classic Rock to exciting new rock acts, while a second stage will offer mainly up and coming bands.

In addition to the music on stage, gastronomy and market spaces, the event will feature a special "Medieval and Fantasy market", artist signing sessions, daily aftershow parties and several surprises alongside the main programme. There will also be a supermarket to supply daily needs.

To assure the best festival experience possible, ICS (Wacken Open Air) and the Concertbüro Franken based in Nürnberg have started a cooperation. Within this partnership, ICS will be responsible for the artists and the national and international presence of the event.

Wacken Rocks Seaside

2009 marks the second appearance of Wacken Rocks Seaside: While last year's edition took place as an one-day-event, Wacken Rocks Seaside will happen over the course of three days, turning the Open Air grounds in Aurich-Tannenhausen in rural East Frisia into a meeting point for all fans of Metal and Hard Rock.

5.000 visitors attended Wacken Rock Seaside last summer, enjoying themselves on a beautiful day that turned out just perfect for a festival party. With a billing featuring Motörhead, Saxon, Machine Head, Torfrock, Drone and excellent newcomers, the little brother of the the mothership – the famous Wacken:Open:Air – established itself as a high class Rock and Metal event.  Another rockin' celebration this year in Aurich-Tannenhausen is guaranteed…

Wacken Rocks Berlin

Also for the first time, the new Open Air Festival Wacken Rocks Berlin will take place on May 30th at Zitadelle close to the Juliusturm (Julius Tower). In cooperation with established

concert promoter Trinity Concerts, ICS is bringing high class artists from the world of rock music to Germany's capital. Again ICS will be responsible for the line-up and public profile of the event.
