More hard rock and heavy metal for the masses.

This weekend, Roskilde Festival is going to the Norwegian music industry’s festival by:Larm. Roskilde Festival marks this by announcing a number of hot acts from the homeland of whey cheese. Thursday, Friday and Saturday Roskilde Festival will serve up a daily dose of Norwegian bands.

In this first round, two hard-hitting bands provide more steel for the rock-starving masses.

SATYRICON combines black metal with characteristics from more traditional, muscular rock. The latest album, The Age of Nero, proves that international recognition has not stirred up Satyricon’s pitch-black outlook on life and crushing weight.

SKAMBANKT gives vent to the love of The Stooges, Motörhead and other rock icons. Punk and hard rock are mixed with socialist messages in heavy granite worthy of a monument of the old USSR.

More Norwegian music tomorrow
Roskilde Festival starts off in the heavy end of Norwegian music. Fans of pop and hip hop need not despair about all this metal, though. Both Saturday and Sunday will offer completely different tunes, rhymes and rhythms.
